CYPRUS: 538 cases of coronavirus have been announced

The Ministry of Health announces that today, December 2 2021:

- No deaths of patients with a final cause of death were recorded COVID-19, and therefore the total number of deaths remains 598.

- 112 patients COVID-19 of which 46 are in serious condition. 66.08% of patients do not have a history of vaccination.

- 3 post-COVID patients who have ceased to be infectious (declassified cases), continue to be hospitalized in intubated condition due to COVID in an Intensive Care Unit.

- A total of 88,694 disease detection tests have been performed by the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid detection method (antigen rapid test).

- 538 (positive rate: 0.61% new cases of the disease COVID-19 detected by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid test (antigen rapid test), raising the total number of cases in 135,503.

The current results are detailed.

A. Deaths from the disease COVID-19:

No patient deaths were recorded with COVID-19. Therefore, the total number of deaths with the ultimate cause of the disease COVID-19 remains 598, of which:

384 men (64.2%), and

- 214 women (35.8%).

The average age of those who die from the disease is 75.8 years.

B. Patients:

In total, 112 patients of the disease are treated in the hospitals of OKYPY COVID-19, of which 46 in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 46 patients in serious condition, 18 are intubated, 3 are admitted to an intravenous intensive care unit and 25 to an intensive care unit.

C. Positive incidents Covid-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 88,694 diagnoses made, 8,029 were made by molecular method (PCR) and 80,665 by the method of antigen rapid test, 538 cases of the disease were identified. COVID-19, which emerged as follows:

  • 55 cases from 682 samples taken through the process of tracking contacts of already confirmed cases.
  • 14 cases of 4,605 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
  • 75 cases from 2,384 samples taken through private initiative.
  • 13 cases from 288 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 257 cases from 49,688 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 124 cases from 30,977 samples examined by the method of antigen rapid test through the program of the Ministry of Health.

In addition, the following tests were performed, without detecting a case:

  • 0 cases from 69 samples received under the program of referrals by Personal Physicians and control of special groups through the Public Health Clinics.
  • Cases of 0 samples taken as part of closed structure tests.
