CYPRUS: One death and 295 new cases

The Ministry of Health announces that today, September 4, 2021:

- One person died of the disease COVID-19, bringing the total number of deaths to 513.
- 133 patients COVID-19 of which 43 are in serious condition. 84,22% of patients do not have a history of vaccination.
- 16 post-COVID patients who have ceased to be infectious (declassified cases), continue to be treated intubated in a serious condition due to COVID in Intensive Care Units.

- A total of 55,492 disease detection tests have been performed by the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid detection method (antigen rapid test).

- 295 (positivity rate: 0,53%) new cases of the disease COVID-19 detected by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid test (antigen rapid test), raising the total number of cases at 116,621.

The current results are detailed.

A. Deaths from the disease COVID-19:

The one person who died with the ultimate cause of death being attributed to the disease COVID-19, it's about:

- A 77-year-old man who ended up on September 3 in the Intensive Care Unit of the Nicosia General Hospital.

Therefore, the total number of deaths with the ultimate cause of the disease COVID-19 amounts to 513, of which:

332 men (65%), and

- 181 women (35%).

The average age of those who die from the disease is 76,4 years.

B. Patients:

In total, 133 patients of the disease are treated in the hospitals of OKYPY COVID-19, of which 43 in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 43 patients in serious condition, 18 are intubated, five are admitted to an intravenous intensive care unit and 20 to an intensive care unit.

C. Positive incidents Covid-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 55,492 diagnoses made today, 5,956 were made by molecular method (PCR) and 49,536 by antigen rapid test, 295 cases of the disease were identified. COVID-19, which emerged as follows:

  • 52 cases from 366 samples taken through the process of tracking contacts of already confirmed cases.
  • 9 cases of 2,670 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
  • 71 cases from 2,620 samples taken through private initiative.
  • 6 cases from 76 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 2 cases from 209 samples received under the program of referrals by Personal Physicians and control of special groups through the Public Health Clinics.
  • 104 cases from 35,096 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 51 cases from 14,440 samples examined by the method of antigen rapid test through the program of the Ministry of Health.

In addition, the following tests were performed, without detecting a case:

  • 5 samples taken in the context of control of closed structures.
  • 10 samples taken as part of a sampling test at the Port.
