CYPRUS: One death and 575 new cases

Announcement of the Ministry of Health regarding new cases of the disease COVID-19

 

The Ministry of Health announces that today, August 4, 2021:

- One person died of the disease COVID-19, bringing the total number of deaths to 430.

- 273 patients COVID-19 of which 90 are in serious condition. 89,02% of patients do not have a history of vaccination.

- A total of 61,462 disease detection tests have been performed by the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid detection method (antigen rapid test).

- 575 (positivity rate: 0,94%) new cases of the disease COVID-19 detected by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid test (antigen rapid test), raising the total number of cases at 103,889.

The current results are detailed.

A. Deaths from the disease COVID-19:

The one person who died with the ultimate cause of death being attributed to the disease COVID-19, it's about:

- A 59-year-old woman who ended up today in the Intensive Care Unit of the Nicosia General Hospital.

Therefore, the total number of deaths with the ultimate cause of the disease COVID-19 amounts to 430, of which:

282 men (66%), and

- 148 women (34%).

The average age of those who die from the disease is 77 years.

B. Patients:

In total, 273 patients of the disease are treated in the hospitals of OKYPY COVID-19, of which 90 in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 90 patients in serious condition, 41 are intubated, eight are admitted to an intravenous intensive care unit and 41 to an intensive care unit.

C. Positive incidents Covid-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 61,462 diagnoses made today, 6,814 were made by molecular method (PCR) and 54,648 by antigen rapid test, 575 cases of the disease were identified. COVID-19, which emerged as follows:

  • 44 cases from 424 samples taken through the process of tracking contacts of already confirmed cases.
  • 7 cases of 2,555 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
  • 131 cases from 3,388 samples taken through private initiative.
  • 16 cases from 249 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 2 cases from 198 samples received under the program of referrals by Personal Physicians and control of special groups through the Public Health Clinics.
  • 265 cases from 38,728 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 110 cases from 15,920 samples examined by the method of antigen rapid test through the program of the Ministry of Health.
