CYPRUS: One death and over 550 cases - The information

The Ministry of Health announces that today, April 5, 2021:

- A person has died from the disease COVID-19, bringing the total number of deaths to 262.

- 196 patients COVID-19 47 of whom are in serious condition.

- A total of 54,652 disease detection tests have been performed by the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid detection method (antigen rapid test).

- 565 (positivity rate: 1,03%) new cases of the disease COVID-19 detected by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid test (antigen rapid test), raising the total number of cases at 48,278.

The current results are detailed.

A. Deaths from the disease COVID-19:

The one person who died with the ultimate cause of death being attributed to the disease COVID-19, it's about:

Male, 74 years old, with underlying diseases, with a history of vaccination (1η dose), which ended up at the Nicosia General Hospital.

Therefore, the total number of deaths with the ultimate cause of the disease COVID-19 amounts to 262, of which:

174 men (66%), and

- 88 women (34%).

The average age of those who die from the disease is 79 years.

B. Patients:

In total, 196 patients of the disease are treated in the hospitals of OKYPY COVID-19, of which 47 in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 47 patients who are critical, 24 are intubated, four are admitted to an intravenous intensive care unit and 19 to an intensive care unit.

C. Positive incidents Covid-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 54,652 diagnoses made today, 5,414 were made by molecular method (PCR) and 49,238 by antigen rapid test, 565 cases of the disease were identified. COVID-19, which emerged as follows:

  • 120 cases from 703 samples taken through the process of tracking contacts of already confirmed cases.
  • 5 cases of 2,778 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
  • 44 cases from 1,258 samples taken through private initiative.
  • 34 cases from 492 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 2 cases from 183 samples received under the program of referrals by Personal Physicians and control of special groups through the Public Health Clinics.
  • 14 cases from 514 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 346 cases from 48,724 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method.
