CYPRUS: 384 new cases identified - Information

The Ministry of Health announces that today, March 4, 2021:

- No deaths of patients with a final cause of death were recorded today COVID-19, and therefore the total number of deaths remains 232.

- 101 patients COVID-19 22 of whom are in serious condition.

- A total of 39,807 disease detection tests have been performed by the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid detection method (antigen rapid test).

- 384 (positivity rate: 0,96%) new cases of the disease COVID-19 detected by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid test (antigen rapid test), raising the total number of cases at 36,004.

The current results are detailed.

A. Deaths from the disease COVID-19:

No patient deaths were recorded today with COVID-19. Therefore, the total number of deaths with the ultimate cause of the disease COVID-19 remains 232, of which:

155 men (67%), and

- 77 women (33%).

The average age of those who die from the disease is 79 years.

B. Patients:

In total, 101 patients of the disease are treated in the hospitals of OKYPY COVID-19, of which 22 in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 22 patients who are critical, 12 are intubated, one is admitted to an intravenous intensive care unit and nine to an intensive care unit.

C. Positive incidents Covid-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 39,807 laboratory diagnoses performed today, 2,830 were made by the molecular method (PCR) and 36,977 by the antigen rapid test, 384 cases of the disease were identified. COVID-19, which emerged as follows:

  • 73 cases from 572 samples obtained through the process of tracking close contact (primary contacts) cases.
  • 4 cases of 438 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
  • 42 cases from 1,425 samples taken through private initiative.
  • 9 cases from 258 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 2 cases from 15 samples taken under the immigrant structures control program.
  • 5 cases from 256 samples examined by the method of antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories.
  • 249 cases from 36,721 samples examined by the method of antigen rapid test through the program of the Ministry of Health.

In addition, the following laboratory tests were performed without detecting a case:

In detail, the rapid antigen test (rapid test) was performed today as follows:

  • 122 samples taken under the program of referrals by Personal Physicians and control of special groups through the Public Health Clinics.
