CYPRUS: The announcement of the Ministry of Health about the daily cases

The Ministry of Health announces that today, May 15, 2021:

- No deaths of patients with a final cause of death were recorded today COVID-19, and therefore the total number of deaths remains 346.

- 156 patients COVID-19 51 of whom are in serious condition.

- A total of 83,338 disease detection tests have been performed by the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid detection method (antigen rapid test).

- 157 (positivity rate: 0,19%) new cases of the disease COVID-19 detected by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid test (antigen rapid test), raising the total number of cases at 70,899.

The current results are detailed.

A. Deaths from the disease COVID-19:

No patient deaths were recorded today with COVID-19. Therefore, the total number of deaths with the ultimate cause of the disease COVID-19 remains 346, of which:

229 men (66%), and

- 117 women (34%).

The average age of those who die from the disease is 77,5 years.

B. Patients:

In total, 156 patients of the disease are treated in the hospitals of OKYPY COVID-19, of which 51 in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 51 patients in serious condition, 28 are intubated, three are admitted to an intravenous intensive care unit and 20 to an intensive care unit.

C. Positive incidents Covid-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 83,338 diagnoses made today, 4,966 were made by molecular method (PCR) and 78,372 by antigen rapid test, 157 cases of the disease were identified. COVID-19, which emerged as follows:

  • 3 cases of 2,171 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
  • 45 cases from 2,196 samples taken through private initiative.
  • 6 cases from 154 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 1 case from 146 samples taken under the program of referrals by Personal Physicians and control of special groups through the Public Health Clinics.
  • 7 cases from 999 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 95 cases from 77,373 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method.

In addition, the following tests were performed, without detecting a case:

  • 299 samples taken through the process of tracking contacts of already confirmed cases.
