CYPRUS: Eight new cases of coronavirus

Eight new cases of coronavirus from a total of 4,315 laboratory tests were announced today by the Epidemiological Surveillance Unit of the Ministry of Health.

Analytically, the virus-positive individuals emerged as follows:

• Out of 139 samples taken through the process of tracking the contacts of already confirmed cases, 1 case was identified,
• Out of 2,199 samples taken during the passenger and repatriated control, 1 case was detected.
• Out of 770 samples taken as part of the random sampling of 10,000 individuals, 1 case was detected.
• Out of 855 samples taken through private initiative, 3 cases were identified, 2 of which have a recent travel history.
• From 169 samples taken under the program of referrals by Personal Physicians and control of special groups through the Public Health Clinics, 2 cases were identified.

In addition, the following laboratory diagnoses were performed, without detecting a case:

• From samples taken at roadblocks, 101 laboratory tests were completed, and
• From samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals, 82 laboratory tests were performed.

Based on the data so far, the total number of positive cases is 1,359.

In addition, a patient is being treated in a ward at the Famagusta General Hospital COVID-19. In addition, in the Intensive Care Unit of the General Hospital of Nicosia, an intubated patient is being treated who was transported yesterday from the reference hospital.
