CYPRUS: An online conference on religious tourism was held in Russia

Dozens of pilgrimage and tourist offices from all over Russia participated in the online conference on religious tourism for Cyprus, which was held on January 21, 2022, in Moscow, according to a press release of the Tamasos Diocese.

It is added that the speakers from various religious organizations in Russia were represented on behalf of Cyprus by the Metropolitan of Tamasos and Mount Isaiah, who is "considered the architect of the development of religious tourism in Cyprus in Russia". , the Ambassador of Cyprus to Russia, Andreas Zenonos and the representative of the Ministry of Tourism of Cyprus in Russia, Dimitris Dimitriou.

The Minister of Tourism Savvas Perdios in his speech stressed that the many Christian monuments help especially in establishing relations between Russia and Cyprus for the development of the pilgrimage, noting that in this way Cyprus becomes an ideal destination in this regard.

The Ambassador of Cyprus to Russia stressed that even in the context of the pandemic, more than 400.000 Russians visited Cyprus for tourism purposes.

The Metropolitan of Tamassos and Mount Isaiah stressed the timeless value of the phenomenon of pilgrimage and noted that "visiting holy places and getting to know the places of remembrance of the saints is a great spiritual benefit for the pilgrims.
