CYPRUS: Positive in the coronavirus little girl 7 days old

A seven-day-old girl with a coronavirus was admitted to Makareio Hospital on Thursday afternoon.

According to the Director of the Pediatric Clinic, Dr. Abraham Elias, the infant showed some symptoms, such as anorexia, lethargy and drowsiness and was kept for treatment in the negative pressure ward of the pediatric clinic of Makareio Hospital.

Dr. Elias underlined that the age of the baby worries the specialists a lot, that is why the specific little girl was also kept for hospitalization, who, according to him, showed symptoms.

He added that there were other cases of newborns that were positive for the virus, but their treatment was not considered necessary, as they did not show any symptoms.

It is noted that the little girl in question is the youngest infant with coronavirus who was kept for treatment at Makareio Hospital, since the beginning of the pandemic.

It is worth mentioning that the 30-month-old infant who was hospitalized in Makareio Hospital with coronavirus has been discharged today.
