Another case of internet fraud is being investigated by the Limassol TAE, after the 58-year-old complained that he sent 55.450 euros to a woman abroad, who for a year promised to meet him in Cyprus, if he helped her financially for a relative who was suffering from health problems.
According to the Limassol TAE, the 58-year-old complained yesterday that, between 2020-2021, through a mobile phone application, he met the specific woman, who told him that he was from Ukraine and needed financial help for a sick relative.
The 58-year-old proceeded, either through specific services, or through bank transfers, in 14 remittances to this woman, totaling 55.450 euros.
The woman, according to the complainant, continued to pressure him to send more money, but without fulfilling her promise that she would come to Cyprus to meet and when she realized that she had been the victim of fraud, she reported the case to the Limassol Police Department.
