Cyprus: Attorney for burglary and theft attacked a police officer

A defendant for burglary and theft allegedly attacked a police officer for the transfer order to the Paphos General Hospital.

Specifically, the Paphos Police is investigating a case of assault against a police officer, a joint assault, an assault causing real bodily harm, against a 36-year-old defendant for burglary and theft cases.

According to Paphos Assistant Police Director Michalis Ioannou, on Saturday at 10:30, while a police officer was on duty at the Paphos Central Police Station and escorted a detainee out of the men 's wing to be transported to Paphos General Hospital. Another detainee, aged 36, who is on trial for burglary and theft, allegedly attacked and pushed him with his hands, causing abrasions in both his hands.

The reason for the attack, according to the Police, is that the 36-year-old wanted to be transported first to the Hospital and then to the other detainee.

On the same day, he was arrested for the self-inflicted offenses he committed, namely the assault on a police officer, a joint assault and assault with actual bodily harm.

The policeman was transferred to the Accident and Emergency Department of the Paphos General Hospital where he was examined by the doctor on duty, according to which he had abrasions on both his hands. He was then fired after receiving first aid.
