Preparation courses for talented students who are interested in participating in the Cypriot Informatics Olympiad (CyOI), are organized by the Cyprus Computer Society (CCS) in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth (YPAN).
According to an announcement, the programming courses are offered free of charge, every week, in every province, by teachers appointed by the Ministry of Interior in collaboration with CCS, as follows:
Nicosia: Monday & Friday (15:00-16:30), Dasoupoli High School (Room 107), Chara Skouteli, Charast@gmail.com.
Larnaca: Thursday (15:15 – 16:45), Agios Georgios High School (Room 44), Dimitris Livadiotis, lab3teacher@gmail.com.
Famagusta: Wednesday (16:00-17:30), Kokkinochoria High School (Room D1), Antonis Georgiou & Antonis Belekas, ageorgiou1@schools.ac.cy.
Limassol: Monday (16:30-18:00), Lyceum Ag. Spyridona (Room E139), Akis Sykopetritis asykopetritis@gmail.com.
Paphos: Wednesday (16:00 – 17:30), Ethnarchi Makariou III High School (Room 418), Eleni Tsiakkouri, etsiakkouri@gmail.com.
As stated in the announcement, the courses can be attended by Secondary Education students who have excellent knowledge of Programming (C++, Python) or have algorithmic thinking skills (for High School Students who do not know programming).
The Pancypriot Informatics Olympiad aims to select the official representatives of Cyprus, in respective international competitions such as the World Informatics Olympiad and the Balkan Informatics Olympiad.
According to the announcement, this year, Cyprus won a bronze medal and two commendations at the World Informatics Olympiad (IOI 2022) held in August in Indonesia and a bronze medal at the Balkan Youth Informatics Olympiad (BJOI 2022) held in Romania between 28/ 8 and 3/9.
The Pancypriot Informatics Olympiad congratulates all the children and the companions of the two Cypriot missions:
IOI 2022: Dimitris Livadiotis (Team leader), Christos Falas (Commendation), Panagiotis Chatzikostas, Theofanis Orfanou (Bronze Medal), Dimitris Chrysostomou (Commendation), Kostas Tziapouras (Deputy leader).
JBOI 2022: Eleni Tsiakkouri (Leader of Mission), Polykarpos Christodoulou (Bronze Medal), Antonis Papaevripidis, Orestis Souzou, Kyriakos Dymiotis, Christos Falas (Assistant Leader).
Next week the European Youth Informatics Olympiad (EJOI 2022) will take place online and Cyprus will be represented by: Antonis Papaevripides, Orestis Souzou, Vangelis Kyriakou and Polykarpos Christodoulou.
Next month, the Balkan Informatics Olympiad (BOI 2022) will take place in Romania where Theofanis Orfanou, Dimitris Chrysostomou, Panagiotis Hatjikostas, Kyriakos Tsiannis will travel with Father Antonio Georgiou and Markos Kalavas.
For the current school year, the 2023st Round of the Olympiad will take place in January XNUMX and the relevant announcement of the competition will be posted on the website of the organization: https://www.coinformatics.org.
