After the vandalism, the reason in the State

What have seen the light of day in recent days, from The placement of a bomb in an elementary school in Zakaki, the arson on Monday and the allegations of beating a principal in an elementary school, demonstrate the need to take action.

The Ministry of Education is already in contact with the police and the Ministry of Justice in general, as, as higher education sources say, the message should be sent that the schools are not "get dogs grind".

At noon on Thursday in "Alpha Cyprus" and Katia Savva, the MP of the Democratic Party and now Chairman of the Education Committee of the Parliament, Pavlos Mylonas made special reference to an incident of beating an elementary school principal, who in fact, being in a state of fear, did not make a complaint to the police, demonstrating the dimensions of the problem.

The State initially through announcements of the parties (DISY, DI.KO, AKEL, Environmental Movement) unequivocally condemned the attacks while at the same time the Ministry of Education and Culture issued a strong statement emphasizing that "education can not be intimidated from social pathology practices, nor can we allow school principals and educators to be attacked by anyone. " Finally, Prodromos Prodromou stated in a written statement that the Ministry will stand by students and teachers while seeking cooperation with the Ministry of Justice and Public Order and the Police.

The main part of the problem, however - apart from the attacks themselves, of course - lies in the fact that The sense of security has now disappeared both for the schools and among the teachers. Speaking to "K", the Secretary General of POED, Haris Charalambous, stated that the most sad thing is the prevalence of insecurity and fear. We accept attacks and fire while we are simply called to implement the protocols and the decisions, he added, emphasizing that "some people want to close the schools".

Then Mr. Charalambous stated that a session has already been held on the next day and the POED is in constant communication with the organized parents. In fact, there was a meeting with the epidemiologist Zoe-Dorothea Pana in order to exchange views, helping the communication part to understand all the parents that although the mask and the tests are considered a necessary evil at this stage, but the approach of the teachers will be completely human talking about new clarifications and possible relaxations / exceptions. He informed us about a series of protests but also actions that will aim to inspire in the students how the dialogue is conducted constructively.

Regarding the safety of teachers and schools, the Secretary General of POED stated to "K" that a meeting has already been requested with both the Minister of Justice, Stefi Drakou and a delegation of the Police. "The state and the state must respond immediately and protect us," he said, referring to guarding, policing of schools and patrols both during school hours and when the school is empty.
