The Department of Geological Survey of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment in relation to the morning earthquake in Paphos announced that on Tuesday 28 January 2022 and local time 05:58 an earthquake of magnitude M = 4.5 on the Richter scale was recorded by the seismological network of the Department.
The earthquake was centered in the sea area of Cyprus, 50 kilometers west-northwest of Polis Chrysochous and a focal depth of 23 kilometers.
The earthquake was felt in the province of Paphos, slightly felt in the provinces of Limassol and Nicosia and perceived in eastern Cyprus and is assessed as a aftershock of the strong earthquake of magnitude Mw = 6.5 of January 11, 2022.
