Unvaccinated 85% in the Report - "There is no patient with O"

The percentage of unvaccinated patients who are treated with coronavirus at the General Hospital of Famagusta, which operates as a Referral Hospital, amounts to 85%, said Amalia Hatzigianni, Scientific Director of the Larnaca-Famagusta Hospitals, to KYPE.

He added that "today 42 patients are being treated at the Famagusta General Hospital, 7 of which are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) as they need closer monitoring. The average age of people hospitalized is 62 years, while the youngest patient is 31 years old and the oldest 93, without a history of vaccination.

He noted that "85% of patients treated at the Referral Hospital are not vaccinated. "Today, two admissions were made while 4-5 discharges are expected to be given to patients whose repeat examinations are negative for the coronavirus".

At the Larnaca General Hospital "22 patients are currently being treated with Covid-19. The Eden Rehabilitation Center hosts 126 people who are positive for the coronavirus, who after ten days, according to the protocol, will be released. Another 18 patients are being treated in the Post Covid ward. "

Answering a relevant question, Ms. Hatzigianni said that "despite the fact that in recent days, a four-digit number of cases has been identified, there is still a balance in the admission of patients to public hospitals. "There is a continuous deterioration of the epidemiological picture in Cyprus, but the number of hospitalizations of patients with coronavirus is controlled."

He also noted that "there was no increased number of imports during the festive period, ie Christmas and New Year. "Those who are still being treated are sick with the Delta mutation, which exists in the Community and people are seriously ill with it," he said. compared to locating so many thousands of people positive in Covid-19».

"There is an increase in cases in the Community and it is expected to continue in the coming days, but it seems that the condition of the patients is manageable," he said, noting that " mild in people who are fully vaccinated ".

Regarding the operation of the Intensive Care Unit at the Larnaca General Hospital, Amalia Hatzigianni said that "today the six beds in the ICU began to operate, which will host non-covid people, who suffer from other diseases. In essence, the Unit in Larnaca will serve the provinces of Larnaca and Famagusta and will decongest the ICU of the General Hospital of Nicosia, so that it can accept people who suffer from coronavirus and need intubation ".

Regarding vaccinations, Ms. Hatzigianni said that "the number of people who go to the Vaccination Centers to receive the 1st, 2nd and 3rd dose of vaccines against Covid-19. At the same time, the number of children aged 5-11 receiving the vaccine is large ".
