Another young man left his last breath on the asphalt on Friday afternoon, in a car accident that occurred in Limassol.
This is 22-year-old Vassilis Hoiras, who was a passenger on a large motorcycle, driven by a 21-year-old.
The new fatality occurred on Domnitsas Lanitou Kavounidou Street, when under circumstances under investigation, a car driven by a 39-year-old, in her attempt to turn into a lane, allegedly stopped the course of the motorcycle on which the two young men were riding.
As the assistant in charge of the Limassol Traffic Police, Emilios Kafas, stated at the scene, "from the most violent collision, one of the two occupants of the motorcycle was fatally injured and was transported to the Limassol General Hospital, where he was simply pronounced dead."
The 21-year-old driver of the motorcycle was transported to the Limassol General Hospital with injuries in various parts of his body, while the 39-year-old driver of the car was also transported to the hospital.
"From the damage suffered by the two vehicles involved, it seems that the collision was quite violent and further tests will be carried out to determine, if it can be ascertained, the speed of the two vehicles", added Mr. Kafas.
No helmet was found at the scene and it is estimated, according to testimonies, that the two young men did not wear protective helmets.
