The theologian, Theodoros Kyriakou, spoke about the case of the deacon of the Metropolis of Tamasos, who was in the stand of the Omonia fans in the final of the Cyprus Cup at the GSP.

Commenting on the decision to put the deacon on holiday, he noted that "this is the only way things will calm down, but on the other hand, the Metropolis is also responsible for this case. This child is 21 years old and was not supposed to wear a turban, because the rules of the Church say that in order to be ordained a deacon must turn 25. And for a priest he should turn 30".

He added that "these children, this child along with two others, were ordained at the age of 19. The first (of these children) is the one who threw away his robes and left the monastery, saying that "I don't want to be a monk, I want to be a layman". The second one is him. So the Synod must look at the issue of the age of ordination of young people".

It is recalled that according to an announcement by the Diocese of Tamasos, "I observed the provisions of the Charter of the Church of Cyprus, following relevant investigations regarding the case of a Deacon of the Diocese, who allegedly had inappropriate behavior not related to his priestly status and mission, according during a football match, he imposed the penalty of a holiday on the aforementioned cleric, who showed remorse and apologized to the Most Reverend Metropolitan, and by extension to the scandalized flock of the Church".
