Inflation will fall, as will interest rates, Erdogan said

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan called inflation the country's most pressing issue in his victory speech and vowed to lower it, just as interest rates — which, at his own insistence, fell to 8,5% from 19% where were two years ago.

"We are planning an economy focused on investment and employment, with a management team of international renown," Mr Erdogan assured his supporters in Ankara after winning the second round of Turkey's presidential election on Sunday.
