The occupying authorities forbade pilgrimages to St. Fanourios

The occupying forces deliberately forbade the pilgrimage to the small church of Agios Fanourios on the coast of Kyrenia, complains the historical and religious movement Agios Fanourios of Kyrenia.

The same is the announcement of the move

It is with regret and indignation that we inform the pilgrims of Agios Fanourios that the representative of the United Nations has informed us that the occupying "authorities" of the pseudo-state have forbidden this year's peaceful pilgrimage to Agios Fanourios, which was to take place on August 27, 2022, on the occupied coasts of Kyrenia , without reason or reason.

It should be noted that for the past fifteen years, on the day of the feast of Agios Fanourios, a pilgrimage and prayer was performed outside the church, in the presence of hundreds of believers. The Movement expresses its regret and is powerless to take any action on its own.

We call on the Authorities of the Republic of Cyprus, the Political Leadership and the competent bodies to take immediate action and take the appropriate actions and representations. The people are wondering where is the free exercise of our human rights and religious freedoms at last? The United Nations should be taken immediately.

"Double standards" in "sensitivity" for the exercise of human rights cannot be tolerated! Let the Authorities put an end to selective sensitivity for human rights.

Re-reach efforts must be a two-way street. They cannot and do not work when they come from only one side because they lead to continuous retreats, while they end up hardening the stance of the other side.
