According to the Assistant Police Director of Paphos, Michalis Ioannou, yesterday afternoon at the airport, during the passport control, a 55-year-old permanent resident of Paphos was located who wanted to leave for Edinburgh.
During the check of his passport, it was found that his details were on the stop list list because he failed to appear before the Paphos District Court after a summons he received and for this purpose an arrest warrant has been issued against him.
Following this, he was arrested and it was later established that the passport he was holding had allegedly stated in an affidavit to the Court that he had lost it in order not to hand it over to the Police.
In view of this fact, he has been arrested for the offenses of false oath and disobedience to legal orders. Today his case is expected to be registered in the Paphos Court.
