Let's take stricter measures from August 1 - What will apply with safepass

The government is considering further tightening of measures to curb the coronavirus from August 1, with the aim of finding a solution to reverse the aggravated epidemiological situation, which has been recorded in recent days in Cyprus.

According to KYPE, with the end of the free Rapid Test from August 1, the government is studying the scenario of the tightening of SafePass, which will now become mandatory in an even larger number of premises.

The tightening of SafePass in the Ministerial tomorrow

According to the same information, tomorrow the Minister of Health will raise before the Council of Ministers the issue, which will make it mandatory to present SafePass in more places and specifically in places with less people, such as very small businesses.

The preferred scenario is the demonstration of SafePass in places where there is a single digit number of people and therefore it is expected that the new decree that will be issued from August 1, will include smaller businesses, such as kiosks, mini market, etc.

It is noted that the current decree requires the presentation of SafePass in places where there are more than twenty people.

On the table and the vaccination of children over 12

In the meantime, the issue of approving vaccinations for children over 12 years of age is on the table tomorrow.

Although a portion of the members of the Scientific Advisory Committee have reservations, the government is nevertheless oriented towards approving vaccinations for children over 12.

The information states that scientists object to the vaccination of children 12, 13 and 14 years old, while they prefer the vaccinations from 15 years old and over.

Meanwhile, there seem to be reactions from members of the Cyprus Pediatric Society, which is meeting tonight with the Scientific Advisory Committee to discuss the issue.

PCR test every 48 hours for unvaccinated workers in nursing homes

In addition, the government intends to submit a proposal to the Minister tomorrow that unvaccinated workers in nursing homes perform a PCR test every 48 hours.

It is noted, finally, that the current decree expires on July 31st.
