Easter 2021: What will happen this year with the receipt and transfer of the Holy Light

Normally, Cyprus will receive the holy light from Israel this year as well, however, due to the special conditions that prevail with the pandemic, the people will not participate in the ceremony.

Speaking on ANT1's "Mera Mesimeri" show, the Metropolitan of Vostra, Timotheos, said that with the help of the state, the army and the Ministry of Defense, but also with the blessings of the Archbishop, the holy light will be transferred to Cyprus this year as well.

At the same time, he pointed out that there will be a modest ceremony due to the fact that the restrictive measures do not allow the participation of the people as was done in previous years.

"We hope that the arrival of the holy light will strengthen the faithful in the celebration of the Resurrection and will strengthen them in the period of trial we are in", stressed the Metropolitan,

At the same time, he stressed that the touch of the holy light will take place in Israel and more than 1000 believers will enter the Church of the Holy Resurrection.

At the same time, he said that the great and holy week we are going through is one of the holiest of the year, because the church reminds us of the saving events that happened from God to man.

"It is a great week because many events took place in it, starting on Holy Monday and ending with the burial of the Lord," he explained.

The Metropolitan stressed that our thought and our prayer are always but every suffering person, especially at this time when humanity is suffering from the deadly virus and most live with anguish and certainty.

"Prayer is the only help we can provide to hospitalized patients and medical staff who are fighting an unequal battle to save lives," said Metropolitan Timothy of Vostro.

Regarding vaccines, the Metropolitan noted that the vaccine is a therapeutic preparation in humans to withstand the attack of a virus.

"From the theological and ecclesiastical point of view, there are no objections to the vaccination of the faithful. However, there are cases of people who focus on how vaccines are made, but we believe that the intention is to save lives ", he said characteristically.
