KYPE Information from the Ministry of Health: "There is no possibility of Lockdown"

The epidemiological picture of the days after and the increase of cases will be discussed tomorrow during the extraordinary meeting with the members of the Advisory Scientific Committee by the Minister of Health Michalis Hadjipandelas.

During the meeting there will be an evaluation of the data, to listen to the suggestions of the scientists, so that it can be decided what we should do in the next days or if there should be some difference within the week or the suggestions should be targeted on Monday, in the scheduled meeting of the Minister with the members of the Advisory Scientific Committee to be brought before the Council of Ministers, which meets on 5 January.

According to sources in the Cyprus News Agency, the data and data recorded by the epidemiological indicators are constantly evaluated.

Asked how the Ministry of Health characterizes the situation after yesterday's rapid increase in cases, the same sources tell KYPE that the increase in cases was something they expected, however it was not expected overnight, it was expected in the coming days and They added that the important thing is that we see that the hospital situation remains stable so far and for this we do not need panic but calmness and the correct evaluation of the data is done to see how they will proceed in the coming days, always after suggestions of the members of the Consulting Scientific Committee.

Asked if there is any thought of a possible lockdown, the same sources told KYPE that there is no such possibility, noting that whatever measures are taken will be measures that will limit the spread.

Regarding the vaccination situation, the same sources told KYPE that it is considered very satisfactory and added that the vaccinations continue normally and that there is a great response for the vaccination of children aged 5-11.
