This is the Molnupiravir pill, which will be prescribed by personal physicians and will only be available from hospital pharmacies. This medicine is not a panacea, it does not apply to all patients but high-risk individuals.
It should only be given to people 18 years of age and older, and to be effective it should be given within five days of the onset of symptoms.
Regarding the groups that should not receive it, Dr. Panagiotopoulou said that taking by "pregnant women or the suspicion that they are pregnant" and by breastfeeding women is prohibited. Recommended only for high-risk patients belonging to vulnerable groups.
He explained that the Pfizer pill is expected to arrive in Cyprus at the end of January and is even more effective. But apart from the fact that it is forbidden to give to pregnant and lactating women, it should not be given to people who receive other treatment because there are terrible interactions.
