An extrajudicial fine of 1.000 euros was imposed on a 30-year-old for possession of duty-free tobacco products.

According to a Spokesperson of the Paphos Police Department, at 10:20 in the morning, members of the Pegeia Police Station, following information, stopped a car driven by a 30-year-old man.

A search of his vehicle turned up and confiscated two boxes of tobacco and eighty packs of cigarettes of different brands.

The 30-year-old was taken to the Pegeia police station where the Customs was called and it was found that what was found was tax-free.

According to the customs law, an extrajudicial fine of € 1.000 was issued against the 30-year-old while the cigarettes were confiscated.

He was then released.
