Optimism, under the circumstances and data, as they have been shaped after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, is caused by the positive course of tourism, according to the Director General of PASYXE, Filokypro Rousounidis.
Speaking on Radio Proto's "Morning Guys" show, Mr. Rousounidis stated that compared to 2019, before the coronavirus pandemic, which was a record year for Cypriot tourism, with revenues of 2,7 billion euros and 4 million tourist arrivals, up to so far we have covered about 74% of arrivals and almost 80% of revenue.
Optimism is also caused by mobility, which also has bookings for the next two months. According to the General Director of PASYXE, 2023 will be a more difficult year than 2022, as there will be many challenges, such as inflationary pressures, energy costs and fare increases, which will affect, to the greatest extent, purchasing power.
This year, he said, there was a strong desire to travel, due to the confinement, due to the coronavirus pandemic, and many also had savings.
