"Cypriots' trips abroad are low"

The movement of Cypriot travelers abroad is at a low level, the President of the Association of Travel Agents (ACTA) Vassilis Stamataris states in KYPE, pointing out that the people who travel must be aware of the traffic protocols to other countries.

"We see increased traffic at airports, on the other hand we say that it is low based on the data of 2019. However, there is a small traffic of travelers, mainly vaccinated," said Mr. Stamataris.

"Numerically, we do not have data, what we have at our disposal is from the Department of Statistics," he added.

"There are people who travel beyond Greece, mainly in Europe, where the protocols for the movement of travelers through airports and the obligations through protocols are clearer," he noted.

As he stated, "we still remain as a country in the red and this increases the demands of the countries, which the Cypriot traveler visits, something that prevents the Cypriot from traveling".

Most trips, he noted, are currently to Greece.

"Greece has always held the scepter, with 50% of the traffic for trips abroad. In good times half of the travelers went to the islands and big cities. It is not like before that we had several flights a week. But even now it has several flying companies. "Gulf Air, Blue Air, Sky Express have been added, while Aegean remains, so there is availability," he added.

Mr. Stamataris advised travelers to follow the provisions of the protocols that are updated every week. "Before making a trip, one should visit a travel agent, who will give him the information that applies to the specific trip he will go," he added.
