27-year-old cyclist in critical condition after a car accident

A 27-year-old British man is being treated at the Nicosia General Hospital with a severe head injury, whose bicycle was swept away shortly after midnight by a 20-year-old vehicle. The driver of the vehicle, which was circulating and in violation of the decrees, was arrested.

Specifically, the accident occurred 15 minutes after midnight on Griva Digeni Avenue, when the 20-year-old driver tried to turn towards Georgiou Neophytou Street, as a result of which he collided with the bicycle, driven by the 27-year-old.

As a result of the collision, the cyclist was injured, who was initially transported to the Limassol General Hospital, where he was found to have suffered a severe brain injury. Due to the criticality of his health condition, it was deemed necessary to transfer him to the General Hospital of Nicosia, where he is being treated by intubation.

A court warrant was issued against the 20-year-old and he was arrested to facilitate the investigations, while he was reported for violating the decrees, since he was circulating unjustifiably after 21:00.

The Limassol Traffic Police continues the examinations.
