In the hands of the Syrian Police, which is on the list of suspects for terrorism

A Syrian illegal immigrant, who is suspected of terrorism in other countries, has been in the hands of the Syrian Police since the beginning of the week.

According to the Police, the 33-year-old, after receiving information that the authorities live in Cyprus, put him under their microscope and last Wednesday he was arrested in Larnaca, where it was found that he had been staying for the last time.

Following his arrest, the 33-year-old underwent an interview with members of the Foreigners and Immigration Service as well as a member of Europol, with the authorities' answers prompting suspicions of terrorism.

After an investigation by the Police, it was found that the name of the 33-year-old was found in the database of other countries with which Cyprus cooperates, which also consider him a suspect for terrorism.

Eventually, the suspect was arrested on the basis of court orders, for matters of national security, with the authorities studying the possibility of his deportation, through procedures that will be followed.

However, this is not the first time that people suspected of terrorism have been identified in Cyprus, as our country is often used as a temporary stop and passage to Europe.
