At 50% cancellations at wedding events and baptisms, according to PA.SY.EP.EK

Cancellations of events, weddings and christenings for the coming weeks continue and so far 50% of the events have been canceled with the Pancyprian Association of Professional Events asking for financial support from the government.

In his statements to KYPE, Konstantinos Mosaikos, president of the Pancyprian Association of Professional Events (PA.SYEPEK) stated that their request for a period of 30 days extension, before the activation of the last decree, decided by the Ministry of Health and after the negative response of the Minister of Health, the cancellations of events, weddings and baptisms for the coming weeks continue. So far he said, 50% of the events have been canceled.

Mr. Mosaikos explained that the number of unvaccinated people present at each event is not large, but, as he said, it happens that the people who are not vaccinated at each event are important people, who could not miss such an event. After that, he continued, the couples are forced to cancel their scheduled events. There are many more who will try to proceed with the mystery, but will not perform the event at the reception venues.

For us, it is another big blow and blow, added Mr. Mosaikos, after noting that their branch is the first to close in this pandemic and open last.

Nevertheless, the president of the Pancyprian Association of Professional Events (PA.SYEPEK) stated that the Association fully understands the Ministry of Health for the measures it takes to protect the health of the world. We are not at all against the measures taken by the competent Ministry, we just asked, he added, for a grace period, which would serve the events that are already in the final stages.
We understand that the measures of the Ministry of Health are an incentive for the unvaccinated to be vaccinated on the other hand, but those interested should know what to do with their event and not to observe today the measure, which was decided yesterday and this weekend to be scheduled events, he added.

He also pointed out that the peculiarity of this Association is that its members are all professional events, photographers, DJs, owners of banquet venues, companies engaged in catering, noting that this sector has a huge turnover in Cyprus that significantly supports the economy. of Cyprus.

The cancellations, he said, continue, since the couples are in uncertainty and do not know whether this measure will be extended after 31.1.22.

It is noted that from yesterday until January 31, 2022, the entrance to social events, such as weddings, baptisms and restaurants within the hotel units, will be allowed to people who have received at least one dose of the vaccine, provided they have a negative result. PCR or rapid antigen detection test. The previous decision of the Council of Ministers for the following spaces is also valid, the Minister clarified, as well as indoor and outdoor stadiums, theaters, cinemas, theaters, music and dance centers, entertainment centers and restaurants.
