The number of registered unemployed reached 32.313 at the end of July 2020, based on the data kept at the District Employment Offices.
According to an announcement by the Statistical Service, based on data corrected for seasonal fluctuations, which show the trend of unemployment, the number of registered unemployed in July 2020 decreased to 33.082 persons compared to 33.243 in the previous month.
Compared to July 2019, there was an increase of 11.731 persons or 57,0%, which is mainly attributed to the sectors of accommodation and catering services (increase of 6.255), trade (increase of 1.724), transport and storage (increase of 860), administrative and support activities (increase 581), professional, scientific and technical activities (increase 460) and arts, entertainment and leisure (increase 325).
It is pointed out that, according to the information of the Department of Labor, the comparison of the data from March 2020 onwards, with the data of previous months is not considered objective.
This is due to the implementation by the Public Employment Service of the emergency measures announced by the Ministry of Labor, Welfare and Social Insurance for automatic renewals of the registered unemployed and new registrations of unemployed without physical presence in order to avoid the spread of the disease.
