DIKO condolences for the death of Michalis Pieris

We are deeply saddened to learn that a prominent figure, the university professor Michalis Pieris, founder of the Cultural Center of the University of Cyprus and a researcher of international scope, has passed away.

The Democratic Party bids farewell and honors Michalis Pieris, emphasizing the breadth and respectability of his personality as well as his enormous contribution to the promotion of the modern Greek language and literature, poetry and art, which he served with passion and above all with love for homeland and respect for history.

The loss of Michalis Pieris, who taught for 25 years at the University of Cyprus and whose action and study had gained international reach, leaves an unfilled gap in his family, the university community, but also in society and culture in general.

The President, the leadership, the officials and the executives of the Democratic Party express their sincere condolences to the family of the deceased.
