Sadness in Yf. Culture - The poet Pizza Galazi passed away

The Deputy Ministry of Culture expresses its deepest sadness at the death of one of the most important poets of Cyprus, Pizzas Galazi, in a statement, noting that "the loss of Pizzas Galazi leaves an unfillable void in the literature and intellectuals of Cyprus".

Pizza Galazi was born in Limassol in 1940. After graduating from the Athenaideo Gymnasium of Limassol in 1959, she went to Athens where she studied political and social sciences at the Panteio School, while at the same school she also attended law and public relations courses. Between 1966 and 1969 he worked at the Cyprus Radio Foundation where he was responsible for various cultural content radio programs.

Between the years 1971 and 1973 he was a member of the Letters Advisory Committee of the Educational Service of the Ministry of Education. He was a member of the National Society of Greek Writers of Cyprus, as well as corresponding organizations in Greece.

She appeared in Cypriot letters while she was still a high school student. A student in Athens, she published there her first poetry collection entitled "Moments of Adolescence" (Athens, 1963), inspired by the Liberation Struggle of EOKA 1955-59.

Her works "Trees and Sea" (1969), "Beacons" (1984) and "The Voice" (2017) were honored with the State Poetry Prize, while in 1999 she was honored with the Lambros Porphyra Award of the Academy of Athens.
