The Ministry of Justice and Public Order today commemorates the victims of the Holocaust, saying that Cyprus' commitment to the protection of the Holocaust memory is fully in line with the support, assistance and practical assistance offered by the Cypriot people in the period 1946-1949 to the five , who survived the massacre and found themselves in British-occupied Cyprus, after the end of World War II.

In a statement issued on the occasion of the International Holocaust Remembrance Day, the Ministry of Justice states that today, on the seventy-seventh anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp from the allied forces, Cyprus commemorates the memory of the victims. in one of the darkest moments of European and world history and reaffirms its commitment to tackling all forms of discrimination, racism and xenophobia, including anti-Semitism.

"Holocaust Remembrance Day is a day of reflection for the six million victims of a methodically organized atrocity," he said, adding that "it is also a social imperative for the ongoing fight against racism, bullying and xenophobia. every effort to prevent humanity from ever experiencing such atrocities again. "
