Cyprus may be a more expensive country to live in than Greece, but it is not. The amount of 41.703 euros was asked to be paid to the Cyprus Electricity Authority by an elderly couple in Limassol, according to the bill they received a few days ago.
As you can see in the bill, the EAC estimated that the couple consumed electricity of this value, during the two months of June 11 to August 12, 2021, while the payment deadline expires on September 22.
After the initial shock, the couple's son contacted the EAC. A company representative initially advised him to call only on working days and hours. Fortunately, a few hours later, the Authority acknowledged that this was a mistake, assuring that a new bill would be sent.
As stated, in fact, the son of the elderly people and broadcasts by ERT, in the house where the charge was made, there are also photovoltaic systems.
