Tsiolas: The commitment of the e / k side for the resumption of negotiations is strong

The Greek Cypriot side reiterates its strong commitment to the resumption of negotiations and substantial engagement in a constructive dialogue within the framework set by the UN Secretary General, said the Secretary of the Council of Ministers Theodosis Tsiolas.

Speaking at the Synthesis about the 80 years of the Municipality of Lefkonikos, Mr. Tsiolas said that 45 years have passed since the Turkish invasion of 1974 and we are still experiencing the tragic and catastrophic consequences of the war and the occupation. However, the unceasing struggle for the supremacy of our rights continues unabated, he added.

He went on to say that the efforts of so many years clashed with the negative and uncompromising attitude of the other side "especially Turkey, which behaves in disregard of international law and the reactions provoked by its unacceptable and illegal actions".

The main goal of the Government was and remains to lead to a fair and sustainable solution, which will liberate us from the occupying army and reunite our country, freeing it from the anachronistic system of guarantees, he said.

He also said that Cyprus, as an EU member state, remains fully committed to the principles and values that govern the European acquis, but also to the basis of United Nations decisions and resolutions. "We are seeking a workable solution that is acceptable to the people and that guarantees, above all, peace, human rights, democracy and the European identity of our state," said the Secretary of the Council of Ministers.

Finally, he spoke of justification, which, as he said, means solution of the Cyprus problem, removal of the occupation, restoration of territorial integrity and return to the ancestral homes.

The event took place in the context of the two-day events for the celebrations of the 80 years of creation and social contribution of the historic Municipality of Lefkonikos, under the slogan "Days of Memory of Lefkonikos".
