The Paphos Police arrested four people for the theft of the bronze statue worth 10.000 euros. According to the Press Representative of the Paphos ADE and Head of the Paphos TAE Michalis Nikolaou, after the arrest of the three persons aged 55,37, 24, and 43, the Police proceeded to arrest another woman aged 50, while another person aged XNUMX is wanted.
As Mr. Nikolaou mentioned, information was received on Thursday afternoon that pieces of the statuette were located in a secluded area of Tremithousa with dense vegetation. The searches began on Thursday night, continued during the night and finally on Friday morning around 5, the first piece was located.
In total, four pieces of the statuette have been identified and research is continuing to identify the rest. Despite the searches, however, unfortunately, they have not been located for the time being. The case being investigated concerns, he continued, the offenses of conspiracy to commit a felony, theft, malicious damage because it has been established that the statuette has been destroyed, as well as the offense of receiving stolen goods.
As the Head of TAE Paphos mentioned, it seems that four of them had sold it to the 24-year-old for the price of 85 euros, which concerns its value as metal and not as a sculpture.
Then it seems to have been taken back from the rest and the rest of the pieces are being searched for as only four pieces which are a part of the statuette have been found, he concluded.
The offenses the four face are conspiracy to commit a felony, conspiracy to commit a misdemeanor, malicious damage, and receiving stolen property.
The four persons are expected to be charged in writing and summoned later.
