Starting today (1/2) for cyclists and bicycle passengers, the regulation that determines the mandatory use of a protective helmet comes into force.
As stated in a statement by the Police, in accordance with the Legislation, helmets for adults and children should bear the standards and specifications of the European Union.
The Police will carry out traffic checks and complaints, with the aim of implementing and observing the provisions of the Legislation.
Violators will be subject to a fine of five hundred euros.
Speaking to Protoselidos, the deputy constable of the traffic department of the Police Headquarters, Tasos Assiikis, said that the complaint is not an end in itself, but the protection of every user of the road network.
