Mandatory 7-day quarantine in hotels for those arriving from the United Kingdom

Taking into account the data obtained regarding the new strain of SARS-CoV-2 virus and in an effort to ensure Public Health for precautionary reasons and until further clarification by the scientific community, for those arriving at Larnaca Airports and Parnafu Airports of the United Kingdom from today, December 21, 2020, at 6 p.m., the following applies:

  1. Passengers will undergo a laboratory test upon arrival at the Airport.
  2. All passengers arriving from the United Kingdom will be transferred to Republic hotels for a mandatory 7-day self-restraint. People under the age of 18 will be able to self-limit at home. However, it is possible for them to remain restricted in hotels if they travel with their parents / guardians or, if they cannot, to restrict themselves at home.
  3. the 7η day, will be re-tested in a laboratory and those who have a negative result, will continue their self-limitation at home for 3 additional days (total of restriction days: 10).
  4. the 10η day and provided that no symptoms occur, the individuals will be released automatically. In case of symptoms, they should contact their Personal Physician for further medical guidance.

It is noted that the costs for transportation and accommodation in hotels are borne by the State.

At the same time, for evaluation and investigation purposes, those who have arrived from the United Kingdom last week and have been diagnosed positive in the sampling tests performed, the samples will be forwarded to the Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics for evaluation of the presence of this mutant.

The Scientific Advisory Committee on Coronavirus, in consultation with the relevant mechanisms of the European Union, is closely following the developments and any new recommendation / suggestion may change the above regulations, which will be announced immediately.
