According to the Minister of Finance, there is a need for new positions in the public sector.
Speaking on state radio, Mr. Keravnos emphasized that the state budget will not be burdened additionally, as the positions are already approved.
He made it clear that the government does not stick to the position to release 1850 positions and expressed readiness to consult with the Parliament on the number of positions to be released.
The Minister of Finance also said that vacant positions must be released, in view of Cyprus taking over the presidency of the European Union in 2026.
