Ministerial: Revised support plans for trapped farmers approved

Revised plans to support trapped farmers with an annual budget of 950 thousand euros were approved by the Council of Ministers at its meeting on Tuesday following a proposal submitted by the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment Costas Kadis, in the context of ongoing support provided by the Government to trapped farmers.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and the Environment, broadcast by the GTP, "the support plans concern existing, new and resettled trapped farmers, their".

It is noted that "the first plan to provide annual financial assistance to trapped farmers was implemented in 1996, while in 2017, with a second plan, new categories of trapped farmers were added, raising the total annual budget to 950 thousand euros."

Also, "anticipating the need for further revision of the plans, the Department of Agriculture, in cooperation with the Office of the Commissioner in charge, held an extensive consultation with the community leaders of our occupied villages where they live trapped, as well as with all stakeholders."

The result of these consultations was the adoption and summary of specific differences in the new plans approved today, Tuesday, by the Council of Ministers, so that they become even more useful and effective, in relation to the purpose they serve.

The agreed differences mainly concern the revision of the age limits and the amounts that can be received by the beneficiaries per category, as well as changes in the application process and the status of the cultivated land, the announcement concludes.
