The Council of Ministers at its meeting on Wednesday approved the National Strategy for Thalassemia and Other Hemoglobinopathies, which will have the character of an advisory body to the Minister of Health and, among other things, will consult with him to determine the implementation actions.
According to an announcement by the Ministry of Health, the National Strategy for Thalassemia and Other Hemoglobinopathies is expected to function as a reference point for thalassemia and other hemoglobinopathies in Cyprus, with consequent multiple benefits for both thalassemia patients and the Cypriot community.
The aim is to improve the services provided to citizens with thalassemia within the General Health System, he adds.
