The approval of the payment of agricultural compensations of more than €2,9 million to 1.046 beneficiaries was approved today by the Council of Ministers, following a proposal by the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment.
The said compensations concern the damages caused by the adverse weather conditions, which prevailed during the 2021-2022 growing season, in deciduous crops, in seasonal and other tree crops, as well as in fixed capital, which resulted in a number of farmers being affected . Therefore, it was considered appropriate and necessary to pay aid through the Revised National Framework. The payment of credits to all beneficiaries is expected to be paid within the current month.
At the same time, the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, with a view to the immediate relief of the affected farmers, is proceeding with the recording of the damages caused by the adverse weather conditions that prevailed in the last weeks, which affected crops in various areas of Cyprus.
