Israel-Hamas War: The Terms of the Agreement and the Stages of Liberation

Details of the agreement between Hamas and Israel for a few days of truce in Gaza, in exchange for the release of 50 hostages, are coming to light. While not all details of the deal have been officially released, an Israeli government official who briefed reporters on Tuesday said the deal is expected to see the release of 50 Israeli citizens, mostly women and children, in groups of 12-13 people on day, according to the Times of Israel.
In return, Israel agreed to a ceasefire of at least four days, the first since the outbreak of war.

The government confirmed those terms of the deal after the vote, without detailing the rest of the Israeli concessions, which are expected to include the release of jailed women and juveniles convicted of terrorism, but not those convicted of killing Israelis.

"The Israeli government is committed to repatriating all abductees. Tonight, the government approved the outline for the first stage of achieving this goal, under which at least 50 hostages – women and children – will be released over four days, during which there will be a lull in fighting,” the statement said. .

"The release of every 10 additional hostages will result in an additional day of ceasefire," it added.

What was agreed – The “key” points

50 Israeli women and children held by Hamas in Gaza will be freed within four days of a ceasefire. For every additional 10 hostages released thereafter, there will be another day of cessation of hostilities.
150 Palestinian women and people under the age of 19 held in Israeli prisons will be released.
Allow access to all areas of the Gaza Strip for humanitarian aid, medical aid and fuel.
Aerial surveillance by Israel will stop for four days in the southern part of the Gaza Strip.
Cessation of aerial surveillance by Israel for six hours a day from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. for four days in the northern part of the Gaza Strip.

During the ceasefire period, Israel undertakes not to attack or arrest anyone in all areas of the Gaza Strip.

The process of liberation

All indications are that the release of the hostages by Hamas will begin in the next few hours, and Channel 12 reports on the process expected to be followed.

Initially, Hamas is going to hand over the hostages to the Red Cross
They will then be handed over to representatives of the IDF (Israel Defense Forces).
The hostages will undergo a first medical examination by the authorities
They will then be taken to one of five isolated medical centers across Israel to be reunited with their families.

In the fourth stage, medical and defense authorities will jointly determine whether at least some of the hostages can provide information.
Finally, the hostages will be given testimony by security officials before they are finally released.
