Mr. Christodoulidis told KYPE that this is a meeting of historical importance, as it is the first Tripartite, at the level of Heads of Government, Cyprus, Greece and Jordan, during which it is expected, in addition to the signing of three important contractual texts, to lay the foundations for a strategic nature of cooperation at all levels.
He added that through the Nicosia Declaration, which will be adopted, and in essence will be a roadmap for the actions that will follow, the common approaches of the three states to important current issues, including regional developments, will be recorded.
The Government Spokesman noted that at the same time and taking into account that a key pillar of our foreign policy is the strengthening of our relations with all neighboring countries, through the institution of Tripartite Conferences, tomorrow's meeting, following them with Egypt and Israel, is Another strong step towards the realization of the goals of our foreign policy, which, among other things, is the upgrading of the international existence of the Republic of Cyprus and the strengthening of the role of our country in the region.
Mr. Christodoulidis also pointed out the bilateral dimension of the visit of the King of Jordan to Cyprus. He stated that this is his second visit to Cyprus in a year, which in combination with the fact that Jordan opened a diplomatic mission in Nicosia at the end of 2016, proves that our relations have now entered a new level, with ultimate goal, through joint actions and collaborations to face the challenges together, always for the benefit of the peoples of the two countries.
It is in this context that the King of Jordan will be accompanied in Cyprus by the Prime Minister, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Minister of Energy as well as other Ministers and officials of the country, while four important contractual texts will be signed, the Spokesman concluded.
