Ministerial measures for pre-election visits – Where they are not allowed

Measures in view of the Presidential elections were taken by the Council of Ministers. These measures concern the visits of the candidates or their supporters to the wider public service.

The Council of Ministers in view of the Presidential Elections to be held in February 2023 approved the following arrangements in relation to the visits of the candidate Presidents and/or their representatives and/or Leaders and delegations of Political Parties supporting their candidacy to Government Departments.

What will apply

A) When a candidate for President or his representative or a Party Leader who supports him officially requests to visit a specific Government Service, including a Provincial Office of a Government Service, alone or with an escort, to be welcomed and accompanied to the Services by the Head of the Service or another senior official of the Service.

B) When the Central Staff of a candidate for President or the Central Organs of the Party supporting his candidacy officially request that their delegation visit a Government Service, including a Provincial Office of a Government Service, to be welcomed and accompanied during the visit by the Head of the Service or by another senior official of the Service, depending on the head or composition of the delegation.

D) Not to allow visits by individual party officials who support the candidacy.

E) The above arrangements do not apply to visits to National Guard units, the Police and Central Prisons, which will not be allowed pre-election visits.

The arrangements that have been decided and will apply to all school units of the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth will be announced with circulars that will be circulated.
