The President will address the College of Europe in Brussels

The President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulidis, is today visiting Bruges, Belgium, where he will address the College of Europe.

As the Government Spokesman, Constantinos Letympiotis, stated on Tuesday, President Christodoulidis will address the College of Europe, following an invitation sent to him by the Society of Cypriot Students of the College, as part of the national week dedicated to Cyprus. It is the first time that the President of the Republic of Cyprus has visited the College.

Immediately after his arrival at the College, the President of the Republic will have a private meeting with Rector Federica Mogherini and then he will speak to students and academics of the College of Europe and the European Diplomatic Academy, including Cypriots, as stated by Mr. Letympiotis, while he will also have a meeting with the Vice-President of the European Commission, Margaritis Schina, before leaving for Brussels.

On Thursday, March 21, the President of the Republic will participate in the work of the European People's Party and then he will sit down at a lunch with the Secretary-General of the UN, Antonio Guterres, and the leaders of the EU member states, mainly on the subject of the Middle East, the situation in Ukraine and global challenges.

This will be followed by the work of the Summit and a working dinner, with the topics of concern to the Escort including the Middle East, Ukraine, Migration, Security, Enlargement and EU External Relations.

On March 22, the President of the Republic will participate in the anniversary event for the 30th anniversary of the European Economic Area, together with the leaders of the EU member states, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein, while an expanded Eurozone Summit will follow.

A meeting of the Secretary General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres with the President of the Republic is scheduled for Thursday, according to information from the KYPE.

Mr. Guterres went on Tuesday night to Brussels for contacts with European leaders and officials, Deputy Spokesman Farhan Haq said during the media briefing at the headquarters of the international organization in New York.

President Christodoulides, who will be accompanied in Bruges and Brussels by the Government Spokesperson, the Director of the President's Press Office, Viktoros Papadopoulos, and officials, will return to Cyprus on the evening of March 22.
