MINISTERS: The sale deed in Famagusta is a private agreement

The sales document concerning hotels in occupied Famagusta is a private agreement that has not been filed with the Land Registry, therefore the Ministry of the Interior is not authorized to get involved, the Minister of the Interior (YPES), Konstantinos Ioannou, said on Thursday on the sidelines of his meeting with the President of DIPA, Mario Karoyan, at the party's offices.

Responding to a question about the information on the purchase and sale of hotels in occupied Famagusta, the Ministry of Internal Affairs stated that "it is a sales document that has been certified by a certifying official and has not been filed in the Land Registry."

As he explained, "the Ministry of the Interior has not been asked to approve this document." "Since it has not been filed in the Land Registry, we as the Ministry of the Interior cannot do anything else. There is nothing to investigate," he stressed. "At least as far as the sale deed is concerned, it's a private deal that the Home Office is not authorized to get involved in," he continued.

Finally, the Minister noted that he is in contact with the Ministry's legal adviser, who is the Attorney General, for further measures "if and when there are developments".
