A new reference point, with a square and an event space, is created by the Municipality of Ayia Napa in the area of the old post office.
A written announcement of the Municipality states that "we are proceeding with the creation of another reference point for Ayia Napa, since the area of the old post office is being renovated and upgraded to a square and a space for small events. The works have already started and are expected to be completed by mid-June ".
It is added that "this area was unused recently and was used as warehouses with makeshift structures. The cost for upgrading the open space of the old post office will be fully covered by funds of the Municipality of Ayia Napa ".
At the same time, by mid-June, it is expected that “all areas / floors of the multi-storey car park, with a total capacity of 110 vehicles, will be put into operation. Until now, only one floor was operational, while the other two were used as storage spaces ".
Mayor Christos Zannettou stated that "the goal is to support the wider inner region of Ayia Napa, in the effort for a better future survival but also for a more upgraded standard of living in combination with the renovation works on the main road of Tefkrou Anthia and the surrounding streets." .
He added that "despite the difficulties and economic consequences caused by the pandemic, we are working hard to implement another important project, aiming at a more modern and functional city."
