The Famagusta District Court District Judge, Michalis Papathanassiou, announced a resounding victory before announcing his decision for the trial within the court in the case of public damage against the Republic of Cyprus by the 19-year-old Brit accused of falsely accusing a gang member.
Specifically, regarding the claim of the defendant's lawyers that her testimony on July 28 was a product of pressure from the Cypriot police, the judge ruled that it was unsubstantiated and that the version she presented had contradictions, lack of coherence, exaggerations, was without logic, without consistency, without stability and that some of its positions were not presented to the investigators.
Therefore, he pointed out that the version of the 19-year-old British woman is unsubstantiated.
As for the presumption with the messages, the judge pointed out that it contained selective messages, which were sent after receiving the testimony from the British woman.
For the British psychologist who had testified via video conference, the judge emphasized that she was also an unreliable witness. He also stressed that the accused wrote her own testimony, as she wished and signed it. She was given breaks, went to the toilet and was not under pressure when giving it to her.
For the Prosecution Authority, Mr. Adamos Demosthenous appeared, while the judge pointed out that all the witnesses, including police officers of the Famagusta Police Department, were convinced of the position that no pressure was exerted on the accused.
